Alhamdulillah
Today I celebrate my 50th birthday. While birthdays may simply mark the passing of another year to some, for me each one holds a profound meaning.
It was 35’years ago that I received the devastating news being diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia with a prognosis of just three years to live. Alhamdulillah here I stand 35 years later, healthy and whole. I know deep down, I am probably living on borrowed life and with each passing birthday, I feel so grateful.
This year is a huge milestone reaching the half century mark; 50 years of life feels monumental. I have traversed through countless challenges cheating death on four occasions, bleed through three recessions in business and experienced the ebbs and flow of life under the leadership of 7 Prime Ministers beginning as a student, in employment, entrepreneurship and in the brief foray into politics. Each experience has left an indelible mark on my soul.
As I turned 50 today, I celebrated a decade of marriage and am a very proud father to 4 children.
At the age of 50, I went back to become a student or what they call a ‘Learner’ at the HELP university pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration. My focus lies in completing a thesis centered around digital elections, hopefully by end of this year. I firmly believe that harnessing technology for political reform is not just necessary but crucial in our battle against corruption and money politic to enhance democracy.
Dalam umur 50 tahun ini, saya telah terpilih untuk menunaikan ibadah haji tahun ini buat kali kedua Alhamdulillah. Sebelum mencapai umur 50, saya telah kehilangan ayah yang menjadi tulang belakang dan tempat saya mengadu Alfatihah.
Dalam umur 50 tahun ini saya berikrar untuk terus berbakti kepada masyarakat bersama perjuangan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Terima kasih kepada ibu, lapan adik beradik saya, sahabat-sahabat, rakan-rakan, saudara-mara dan kenalan yang sentiasa memberi dorongan, sokongan, kepercayaan dan keyakinan terhadap diri saya. Semoga Allah melindungi kita dari segala hasad dengki, fitnah, musibah, dan memberkati usaha dan inisiatif perjuangan kita.
