BOOTCAMP INSTRUCTORS ON TRIAL

Ok... First, I'll do the 20 grunts for forgetting to announce the winning Reds in the last blog. Yes, the Reds (ie Chief's instructors in Malaysia) too went through the same phase of lifestyle transformation together with their recruits during the Eight Weeks to Wow challenge but since they were by default disqualified from competing for the RM15,000 grand prize, COBC ran our own challenge among the instructors and the four shortlisted for Finals are as follows:

There are 12 instructors at the Chief's Original Bootcamp, Malaysia network with only 1 female instructor. At the Chief's Original Bootcamp Malaysia, we believe in preaching whatever is spoken and in walking the talk. Whatever that is being trained at the bootcamp, our instructors go through the same training and products. To unleashed our recruit's best physique, our instructors too unleashed theirs. Together, we walk in the corridors of hot bods & health.

There will only be 1 winner among the instructors and the winner will get a New Balance Voucher worth RM ehem ehem...

Instructors that were voted into finals are....

FROM A CORPORAL TO A SERGEANT!! CONGRATULATION WAN HAZRIQ ABDULLAH

There is nothing that can make us even more proud than to promote our instructor and that is exactly how we felt when we announced the promotion of Corporal (COBC) Wan to Sarge (COBC) Wan this morning in COBC Instructors Whatsapp group chat. Of course, that was within our internal announcement and here we are, announcing it to the world. Sarge Wan whom was promoted as a Corporal (from Lance Corporal) in June 2011,  has satisfied the minimum 1,000 work-hours commanding platoons and sections in his tenure with the Chief Original Bootcamp. Yes, practice does make perfections. Sarge Wan have also met the benchmark of a Sarge accredited by the Original Bootcamp co-founders and the person behind COBC program, Chief Brabon & Gunny Brabon during the duo's recent visit to Malaysia. Get up close with Sarge Wan at HERE.

When Sarge Wan first came on board in January 2010, he was put in grey for the longest of time, 4 months to be exact!! ...before the team finally allowed him to wear the prestigious Red Tee. Being in grey tee as a recruit at the COBC is as important as putting on the Red tee because an instructor has to feel what the recruits are feeling to be able to reach out to them. An instructor must be able to reach out to every recruit in a group and the experience of being in grey tee, would allow him to relate to the intensity threshold of a recruit. Being in Grey too, would enable an instructor to adapt the COBC culture better. This culture is what COBC is all about.

(Left- Andrew Lim with Ryan Wong)

If there is one guy that is always consistently motivating us on COBC facebook page at HERE, then it must be Andrew Lim. The funny and cheerful lad will always make you smile on facebook whenever you tuned into COBC page. Infact, COBC page is a good stress relieved channel.. you will always either end up smiling, giggling and/or sometimes... tergolek golek on the floor laughing outloud.

It is always very inspiring to read about what motivates anyone to start exercising especially when someone is already successful and contented with life like the 39 years old hotelier who turned into tobacco?!! Andrew Lim graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Commerce Honors degree in Human Resource and Marketing from the Griffith University in Queensland, Australia and began his carreer to first help set up the Palace of the Golden Horses, Mines Beach Resort, Mines Exhibition Centre. After the Palace of the Golden Horses, Andrew moved on to start the Cyberview Lodge with his General Manager and Sales Director.

The glamorous life of being attached to two of Malaysia's finest 5-star hotels coupled with a good mix of HR and business exposure in the early stages of Andrew's career had motivated him to indulged into the  high flying life of being a professional business consultant. Andrew then moved on to be a consultant with KPMG and the Hay Group. That move was very enriching especially when he get to liaise, work and learn from the best Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors of big multi-national Corporations, large local conglomerate and the goverment. After 7 good years from a make-believe world of consulting where you need to not just come out with the concept and ideas but also to make sure that it can be executed, Andrew departed back into operations where the reality of life is. 2XU COMPRESSION RUN 2012, SINGAPORE

There were more than thirty of us from the Chief Original Bootcamp, Malaysia that ran the Singapore 2XU run on 1 April 2012.. and it was no April Fool. Rose Emini Pahamin with a group arrived earlier to collect our race number and race kits. We stayed at the Park Royal on Beach Road, Singapore. Rose Emini Pahamin left with Nyna Mohsen, Bahariah Bahadom in a car and after collecting our race kits, she checked herself at the hotel where our parent also stayed. Since we start running for almost 10 years, this was the first time that my parent came to cheer for us.. it was either because they were really bored or maybe they actually love us more than we thought.

Blog compilation of various pictures of COBC pips taken in Singapore during the 2XU.

Mum & Dad was already at the hotel when Rose Emini Pahamin arrived. Nawal Aini Zulkifli and Aaraf Armin and me have not even left Kuala Lumpur.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH WAN HAZRIQ ABDULLAH

Wan Hazriq Abdullah or more fondly known as Corporal (COBC) (P) Wan was born in Kelantan when all other love birds were celebrating the Valentines on 14 February. The strict, firm and no non-nonsence lead instructor is far from the military figure portrayed at the basecamp. Corporal Wan is not your ordinary Corporal. He may not look friendly but he will take care of you and make sure you get what you paid for and achieve your target even if you feel like giving up and rather do without the goal. He wont let you give up and with him.. its either do or die (so far no one die yet)!! but you will thank him when you see your benchmark time is faster and when you had to shop for new pair of cloth when the current became too big for your shrunk and improved body.

In person, Corporal Wan is not only friendly but hilarious and humble in nature. There is nothing else more important to Corporal Wan than his family and the CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP. He will drop any other errand for that two most important factors in his life. Family values and his passion in his work, made him an outstanding person that only grew stronger and better with every feedback received from anyone and anybody.
