DKS 5- One ACE down........ 19 more to go!!!

DKS5= December Kiasu Session 5.
(Note: Still 100% ACE- Attendance!! Commitment!! Effort!!... 7 more sessions to go!!!)

Its official!!!!People at the Bootcamp are the most Kiasu, hip, hyper, lunatics and the masochist!!!
We did not just love mud, grass, rain but today we discovered that we also love the Sand too.......!! The Bootcamp is full of surprises!!! ..........and today is no exception...........

We arrived at 5:35am, record our attendance and I went to greet Kenny whom had just recovered from Dengue and Jason whom is still recovering from a fractured ankle. Kenny had a new clean look with everything shaven from top and bottom.... I mean his hair, moustache and beard! Jason had a haircut too! These two are both the Superman of Bootcamp being one of the fittest if not the fittest!

At 5:45am sharp everybody was aligned in one row facing Sergeant Sim, Corporal Faizal and Lans Corporal Elin. Every recruit... as in everybody except 5 AWOLS and Pilates (not the real name) that arrived 1 minute late was all line-up in total silent!!! ..........it is amazing how the most Kiasu people can be so quiet but that is the invaluable & priceless commitment extended by all......... except for P. Arvind!

Whilst everybody are committed to 100% ATTENDANCE, 100% Commitment & 110% Effort, 20 Kiasus agreed on a PACT for 100% ATTENDANCE!! The PACT was agreed by the following 20 Kiasu:
.
1.Shobha Bala
2. Armin Baniaz
3. Soo Pey
4. Dr Malek Aziz (aka Doc M)
5. Farhanah Bamadhaj
6. Shammy Ooi
7. Shera Ann
8. Rose Emini
9. Nyna Mohsein
10. P. Arvind (MISSED 1 SESSION!!!)
11. Peggy Hoergh
12. Amy Ho
13. Suloshini
14. Chun, CK, CCK etc.
15. Suriana (1/4 outfit)
16. Ana Aziz Kassim
17. Rienna Choo
18. Puteri Janna
19 Danny
20. Daing Daniel

With the PACT, whomever that failed (aka the Loser) to get 100% ATTENDANCE MUST WEAR AN OUTFIT chosen by the WINNER (those that achieved 100% attendance)..... and whomever that missed a session, will be broadcasted in all possible media accessible by those in the pact....

There is no exception for 100% attendance BUT for those that is not-well, sick, un-fit, in-pain, lazy-to-work-out, cannot-workout for whatever reason, they must attend all the Bootcamp but excluded from doing the training... sort of to give moral support akin of 'Cheering' the recruits for 100% ACE & the spirit of camaraderie.

May the board of Kiasu have mercy on Arvind P.

Me and the other 19.......... SO FAR SO GOOD with 100% ACE!!!.

Today........................... The KL Alpha platoon was divided into 2 teams, namely Alpha and Bravo with a good mixture of Rangers, Seals and Deltas. I was in bravo. The two teams was asked to compete with each other and the Kiasu being Kiasu had a hell of screaming!!

I initially thought we were competing for the loudest voice!!! Everybody was screaming though I did not understand most of the scream except for some words like.. 'Spread wider', 'Spread wider', wider wider... dont move the leg!!, Faster, faster, faster.!!. Come, come, come!!!, go, go, go!!!..... and Chun from the other team retaliated by screaming..... I want more, I want more... more.. more... 5 more, 10 more.......

It all began after the routine warming up session. From the car park area, everybody jog for 500 metres until we reached a junction with a stack of sandbags. Every recruit was required to pick and carry one sandbag and continue to jog for 10 minutes until we reach an uphill road. At that juncture, both Alpha and bravo team were aligned in two rows facing each other.

Team Alpha in one row and the Bravo in the other. Everybody had one sandbag each and all the sandbags were compiled at the lower end of the road. As Sarge commanded to start, the last person with the compiled sandbags had to picked up and passed the sandbag to the next person on the right and that person needed to pass the next and the next and so forth until all the compiled sandbags were all passed. When all the sandbags were passed, the last person without any sandbag must sprint and join the row after the last person. The passing of the sandbags were continued to be passed until the row moved forward for the whole 30 minutes.

There is only one rule of engagement..... at any point while holding the sandbag, both feet must be glued on the tarmac and if the feet were pivoted or lifted, the whole team must perform 5 jumping squats as a penalty...

My team, the Bravo had the best form and was only penalised three times with the jumping squats but the Alpha team had at least eight penalties. The Sarge declared team Alpha as the winner as they were faster even with the 8 penalties but gave us the reward to burn the extra calories and sexier legs with 15 jumping squat!!! Although the reward was little and we were hoping for at least 20 jumping squat but we were happy.

Today is another 5 star session. I can see the vain popping out from the arm, and the bicep, back and shoulder muscle tightening.

Now we all have to be patience to wait for Friday training and being Kiasu, I think I will go to the gym this evening................. although I, Osama aka AhnTy, Doctor, Ah Pack, Ah  Sot Sot Jor, Ah FFK, Scottish, Supermum, Drummies, Pink Rose, Pilates, Red Ribbon, Gf, Veep, WoodPecker etc etc etc.. had to burn some extra brain cell thinking of an outfit for P. Arvind!!!

HOOOOOYAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until Friday my friends, Stay tune........

DKS 4- HAPPY BIRTHDAY FARHANAH

DKS= December Kiasu Session 4.
(Note: Still 100% ACE- Attendance!! Commitment!! Effort!!... 10 more sessions to go!!!)

I messed up my Blog Layout!!!! ...an 'itchy hand' turned ugly when I downloaded an "adapted from Wordpress" layout and within a touch of a button, all the 12 widgets from my previous layout were automatically deleted!!!! All gone and the titles in the new layout displayed an alien language! and here I am wide-awake, irritated, annoyed and pissed at 1:15am......... on the eve of Bootcamp session 4!!!!

Equipped with only 3 hours of sleep, we arrived at Padang Merbuk at 5:30am..... and as usual, I screamed for Shobha's name in anticipation of her missing the Bootcamp session today... maybe to take care of her sick daughter or maybe due to an extended hang-over from the Danish 'blue drink' she had.......... but this Aunty is very stubborn and replied loudly SHOBA IS HERE to my disappointment. Her husband was right in labelling this Aunty, a Madam Osama bin... Vinod! Really extremely stubborn.... which is good for our KL Alpha Tag line 100% ACE!!! ...but maybe bad for me....

The ACE tagline was agreed by most at KL Alpha but only 20 recruits are in for the 'Pact'!! The pact for 100% ACE was for 100% attendance.... otherwise, the loser must wear an 'Outfit' chosen by the winners!!! ..........and I more or less can imagine the horror 'Outfit' that Shobha & others will choose if I missed a session!!!

My sister Rose Emini & cousin Nyna Mohsein arrived home from Singapore at 2:30am after completing the Standard Chartered Singapore International Marathon at noon the same day!!! .....and I could not agree more with Doc Malek Aziz's statement, "while many dream and talk of doing it (the Marathon), you both went along and DID IT!!!".. Faizal Ariff left them a message; "both of you (rose & nyna) got a standing salute from me *smiley face*" ... which drop Shobha off her chair understanding the underlying second meaning?? I only have 2 thumbs but Chun gave them 4 thumbs up!! but chun is always abit Sot Sot Jor.

Sista Rose Emini & Cuz Nyna Mohsein completed the Singapore 42km & attended the OBC!! The best of ACE Spirit..... Red Ribbon overslept & didnt come today!!?? People, 'Outfit' for Red Ribbon?

Our session began with a routine warm up session but this time we had an extended "Side by Side" runs.... and also 3 sets of Squat pulses for AWOLS... I wonder who the AWOLS were...

After the warming up session, we adjourned to the rugby field and this was when the torture began with a tagline for the day as "Burning Hot Legs and Explosive Heart"..... There were 4 sets of sprinting as follows:

There were 15 yellow cones that was aligned 3 metres apart and one red cone at 50 metres distance away from the last yellow cone. The training commenced with 15 'frog jump' forward from one yellow cone to the other and a 100 metre sprinting from the last yellow cone to the red cone and U-turn back to start point. I felt like a Toad doing the frog jump; my body felt so heavy. I preserve my energy by jogging slowly instead of sprinting until the Taliban waited and sprinted with me forcing me to sprint madly..... I never knew I can run that fast until today and just cannot understand how a Frog can live all their life jumping... and still fat!!

Then the frog jump was replaced with side by side step jump (again) from one yellow cone to the other and similar sprinting distance.... I was breathless and could not speak but gave all that I had for a perfect form.

The next step was a long leap run, from one yellow cone to the other yellow cone which was easier than the others but just as I thought the training was easier, it gets harder!!! The long leap run was replaced with squat jump. We had to jump squat on a similar 15 repetitions from one yellow cone to the other. By this time, my leg was already numb.... and I thought my heart was jumping out through my throat.

Long leap running................

On a rating of 5 star (with 5 Star being the best and 1 the worst) I rated this circuit as 5 star... I gave 110% effort and had to kneel down from shortness in breathing after completing every cycle... at one point, I nauseated and almost vomited but no pain no gain as they say.

We were then given a one minute water break.. and gathered for Part 2 of the training... ...

Part 2 requires a partner. We faced each other with one leg forward, both palm rested on both the partner's palm and elbows bended. The palm moved in a circular motion ala fondling the partner's breast. "You must be used to this movement", whispered Faizal whom was standing beside me and Nawal. "Not really, usually it was done without any cloth on", I teased and thought to myself in exhaustion, still breathless and not being able to speak.

It felt easy at first until the triceps, chest, shoulder and back muscle all started to burn... and it continued to burn excruciatingly. The Taliban called the motion as the Miyagi Karate kid movement but I think it was a training preparation for some kama sutra technique.

Miyagi-Do Karate... cum Kama Sutra-Do?

The same exercise was continued with a second set but instead of the circular motion, we have to rotate moving one hand (still rested on the partner's palm) up above the head with the other hand down to the waist level... was it painful... ? My chest, triceps, back and shoulder muscle was crying... and of course, I was noisy too with the ................................................................
Ooohs, Aaaahs and Uuuuuhs..

I rated this exercise 5 star too and also gave in 110% effort although lacking some perfect form towards the end............

The 60 minutes exercise ended with a TOTAL of 2 MINUTES BREAK in between and 5 minutes warm down. The Bootcamp thus far, had never disappoint us with a hardcore, burning and full of screaming (in pain) exercise.

The KL Alpha then gathered at my car where Rose & Nyna was ready with a surprise BIRTHDAY CAKE for Farhanah, Doc Malek Aziz's partner in crime but was surprised instead when Farhanah too brought out a cake and a present for Rose & Nyna for completing the Singapore 42km marathon. It was a double surprise!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FARHANAH

DKS 3- Dancing in the rain with Senior Sarge

DKS= December Kiasu Session 3.
(Note: Still 100% ACE- Attendance!! Commitment!! Effort!!... 9 more sessions to go!!!)

.
Its 100% ACE....... RAIN, HAIL OR SHINE!!!! me & my big mouth....!!
I was 7 years old the last time I played under the rain and was so excited to hear the rain when I woke up at 4am this morning.

With less than 4 hours of sleep for two (2) consecutive nights, I dragged myself out of bed, stormed through the all night non-stop pouring RAIN and arrived at Padang Merbuk 5:35am!!! and quickly screamed "is SHOBHA HERE?????" sadly.... she was there.

I quickly search for the SENIOR CHIEF, in case he FFK from the rain ...... I shut up the moment I saw him with his big arm on his waist in RED TEE!!!

KL Alpha dream for the Master Trainer cum Senior Chief to instruct us, came true today!!!!! Some super senior Kiasu(s) have had that opportunity to train with him but this was mine and a whole bunch of us new Kiasu's first time with the Senior Chief.......... .and after a session with Senior Chief, I have only ONE (1) summary of the OBC:

"A proven HOMOGENEOUS GREAT QUALITY OF OBC TRAINERS whether Malaysian or Australian"  (well done!!!)

but with a few exceptions as follows...........

1) Malaysian trainers never bring the rain with them (especially the whole session) except for MUD.
2) Instead of TIME-ADDED for late-starters, imperfect form (of exercise), early stop (before the scream STEADY!); Senior Chief would RE-START the timing and even the whole cycle (especially for Grunts)!!
2) No water break and/or any breaks!! (We will never complain of our 30sec water break again...)

With that, the session began with 3 well-planned circuit training......... but first we had to perform 3 sets of squat pulses for 15 AWOLS!!! PEOPLE............ 100% ACE!!!!!!!

(1) The first circuit was instructed by the Wolverine.......

The first is an alternate Tap dancing & Push-up. At first, I thought it was a Wolf dance... but was assured not to asked with the white taliban at sight. The Tap Dancing exercise require the recruit to jump and tap the tip of the cone (that was placed at the front) with one leg and jump again to tap the same cone with the other leg. There were two teams... One team dancing and the other team simultaneously doing the push-ups!! This was repeated for 5 sets of 20 seconds per repetition.

After a 30 second break, the front leg tap dancing was replaced with a side to side tap dancing.... It was performed similar to the front leg tap dance but it was done from side to side. The other team continue with the push up.

If the cone dropped while being tap with the leg, then extra time will be added.... I did well but the cone was confused and dropped by itself twice...  so time was added for us to burn more fat! (no need to thank me).

I love the push-up but I dont have the chemistry with tap dancing.... and yess... 110% effort although abit slow with the dancing..... which obviously came with a loud Wolverine scream "Armin you are too slow!!"..... I was actually concern of the cone safety!...takut 'penyek'.

Without that chemistry with the cone, I give this circuit a 3.5 Star rating...

(2) The second circuit was instructed by the Senior Chief............. The team that was aligned in one line was guided through to performed 2 sets of the following exercises:

The first set:

The circuit comprised of 2 sets of 3 sprintings measured by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd yellow cone with a distant of 50 metre, 75 metre and 100 meter respectively (from start point to yellow cone and back to start) (my measurement may be wrong).

(a) the first Sprint was toward the nearest yellow cone and back to start position and performed 10 repetition of shoulder push up. The shoulder push-up was performed with both hand and leg on the ground with the ass smiling up.... sort of an upside down V-Shape. In that position, lower the head to touch the ground and push it back up using the shoulder muscle for a repetition of 10.

(b) Then the next sprint, and 10 repetition of grunts;

(c) and the final Sprint with 10 repetition of stationary-cross-country run.

Everybody must performed an on-the-spot jogging while waiting for all team members to complete the first set.

The 3 sprintings and distance remained but the exercises were change for the 2nd set. The exercises for the second set that was performed with 10 repetition each are as follows

(a) Star Jump;
(b) Ground Stationary Climb (don't know the name)- start similar to a push up position, with both hand on the grass and on both toe. Then move/jump one leg up until the knee touches the chest akin of big step climbing.
(c) Jumping (or was it bouncing) Squat. This was performed with both hands behind the neck, squat down then bounced up.

This circuit was the major contributor to my 715 calories burnt today!! I rate this programme a 5 star but felt I could have ran faster... Maybe because nobody screamed RUN ARMIN RUN... ala Forest Gump!!!!!!!!!!

(3) The third circuit was for 8 pack abs, Jacob wannabe... Each exercises was performed 5 sets with 60 seconds per repetition.... and a 30 seconds break between Sets.

Started with an easy 5 sets of 60-second non-stop SIT-UP per set. Then the burning JACK KNIFE and finally an excruciating leg cross-over (Dont know what its called?).

The leg cross-over, was performed  lying down flat on the back with head and shoulder tilted up and both leg raised at 45 degree. In that position, spread both leg open...... then cross those legs before spreading it wide open again and again repeatedly........

[PICTURE CENSORED]

The ABS EXERCISE was my favourite.... Although I gave 110% effort.. but the leg that was suppose to be straight & raised at 45 degree automatically curled and bent... but it NEVER TOUCHES THE GROUND.. Phheww...otherwise.. TIME ADDED..!!  Typical!!!!

Since we were never given any water break, I tried to drink the rain drop by opening my mouth whilst on the flooded grass....

The Abdomen exercise was my favourite, in fact I personally requested from the Wolverine for more abs workout!! It was excruciating, painful and difficult with an orchestra of moans..... OOOOhhhs... AAAAAhhhhhhs.... some recruits reached their point of no return and started calling names Rose rose rose.... aaaaahhh peggy peggy peggy.. UUuuuuuhhh... shobha shobha shobha........... OOOooooohhhhh.........  me...? I was busy drinking rain!

I rate this crazy Jacob-wannabe-circuit a big 5 STAR rating!!! and gave in 110% effort!!!!
After that circuit, CK CUN quickly wanted to remove his Tshirt to show his tummy..............  but WE quickly stopped him.  and manage to capture a sneak preview of a very CUN 8 PACK............

The session ended with Senior Chief....... probably his TRADEMARK, a loud scream of 3 HOOOYAAHS!

HOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOOOOOOOYAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you SENIOR CHIEF!!!! for choosing KL ALPHA to instruct.......... of course we all know why.... ;-)

DKS2- The Senior Chief met the Kiasu..

DKS2= December Kiasu Session 2.
(Note: Still 100% ACE- Attendance!! Commitment!! Effort!!) ok ok.. just only 2 sessions out of 12.. but wait..)

Most Kiasus arrived at the Padang Merbuk for the 2nd session in December at 5:35am and was immediately on the look-out for..............

Our intel had pre-informed us that the OBC Senior Chief for Asia RED TEE from Australia will be joining us today... probably either to
(1) Review and assess the Red Tee & us the Grey Tee
(2) took command, assist & instruct the Kiasu (ala Military coup from the Wolverine)
(3) could not resist to train with us Kiasu...

Senior Chief did not took command nor assisted in the training today... ruling out No 3. Surely, our trainers do not need any assistant!! They are perfect and would pass any assessment with flying colours.. so ruling out no 1 too..!!! Now we are left with No 3... lets see........

Today, our local Chief Wolverine is in charge!!!  .......and led the warming up session before gathering us at the rugby field for the customary sweating & crying blood session as follows:

We began with a 100 meter sprint & chest workout. In a tag of two team Alpha & Bravo, Team Alpha began with a burst of 100 meter sprint while team Bravo performed endless push-up(s), When team Alpha return, Alpha will performed the push up whilst team Bravo ran the 100 metre sprint. This was repeated for 15 minutes before we were allowed 60 seconds water break!!

After the 60 seconds break, the push-up workout was replaced with a sit up... .. and the same circuit was repeated for another 10 minutes.

I gave in 110% effort in the sprinting and rated the circuit a 5 star rating... A very good exercise for Speed Work!!! My aim for December!!!

We then proceeded with another muscle burning circuit......10 sets of each of the following exercises with 30 seconds break between repetitions... though it felt like 5 seconds.

LEG......  45 Seconds of non-stop Squat pulses with & Jumping squat. The leg workout was a killer.. for me!! My 1 month leg training at OBC is equivalent to my whole life of leg training at the gym. Rate 3 Star in effort.. leg was worse than wobbly!!

CHEST..... Push up (on Toe) Military Push up, (on knee and on every rep, alternating one hand on the chest with every push up. My favourite training.. the chest workout........ Although this is my favourite, but I reached the orgasm after completing the Push-up.. during Military push-up............ my whole chest felt numb!!! This I rate my effort as 5 star.. although that last few sets was hell.. but thats was all that I had.

JACOB 8-PACK ABDOMENT workout.......... the Jack Knife!!!!!!! ........ I sparred with Chun during the Jack knife session... Whilst lying down on the field during the 30 seconds break, I thought the adrenaline-rush kicked in when I suddenly saw stars and maybe a signal that I may collapse......!! but actually it was really stars in the sky.. it was at 6:30am!!!

Except for my leg that kept cant be straightened (when doing the jacknife) for some unexplain reason, I gave in a 5 star effort too!! so orgamic!

I love the abs exercises!!! I can feel the 8 pack comfortably sleeping & hiding under the thin layer of my tummy fat (grrrr)........ but it wont be for long!!!

After the circuit training.......... we went for a recovery run from one Rugby goal post to the other end. Crazy Chun, high on adrenalin wanted to run straight for the KL Tower that was beautifully visible from our training park!!! We had to drag him back to reality!!!! .......but I didnt recover during the recovery run.. I recovered during the warming down session!

The session ended.. today in short was a CHEST DAY!! ........and a noisy day! I was noisy and ugly.. screaming uuuuuh aaaaaaa uuuuuh aaaaah on every exercises performed. The noise was sort of an expression orgasm... from the workout!

After the session ended, a bunch of us Kiasu said HELLO to the Senior Chief and chatted with him wondering why he did not instruct us today (pretend)...........

Senior Chief said, he actually wanted to join us for training before he leave back to Australia on Sunday!!! HAH.. SO ITS NO 3 ALRIGHT!!! ....yaaa we know, we are so irresistable!!!! but I said, it would be great if Senior Chief could instruct us instead!!

Senior Chief agree and said he will instruct us on FRIDAY!!!! ..and find other platoon to train with.

At home, I send Senior Chief a wall message and ask:
"How did KL Alpha do today from your observation?"

Senior Chief replied: KL ALPHA RAWKS AND IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok.. I LIED..!!

Senior Chief exact word quoted was:

"Everyone (at KL ALPHA) appeared to PUSH HARD today.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!"

HOOOOOOOYAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you wonder what its like to be trained by the SENIOR CHIEF... wait for Friday....
Stay Tune.............
