8-WEEK ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP CHALLENGE- THE END

.

8 weeks of being on a delicious diet and only 1 hour of muscle provoking exercise, six days a week was a wonderful experience... that was what the 8 Week ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP challenge was all about!! A journey to self discovery. Although the licensee, franchisee, instructors and admins of the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP were not allowed to contest but Sarge Dann, Corporal Chun, Corporal Jasper, Corporal Nawal, Farhanah Bamadhaj, Rose Emini Pahamin and me had all participated to share and feel that experience with 31 other contestants from OBC-BU.

As a result... We did not just look thinner, slimmer and sexier, but fitter and faster in our benchmark assessments and runs too. Two contestants from Malaysia was voted into the final. There were James Fong and Amelia Shahrin. Congratulation to them both.

Now lets see their results..

Before the 8 WC challenge, James Fong a chartered accountant weighted 93kg and now he weight 79kg.. weight lost of 14kg in 8 weeks. Neck size reduced by 2cm from 40 to 38. His upper arm gained muscle and grew by 2cm from 34 to 36. His chest now measure 103cm from 110; smaller by 7cm. James Fong waist shrunk by 20cm from 99cm to now 79cm.  His hip is smaller by 4cm to 103cm. If anyone deserves to shop for the new year.... it is definitely JAMES FONG. Congratulation James.

PENANG BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2010

.

It was an anti-climax to actually re-checked and saw my BIB REGISTRATION for Penang Bridge International Marathon was for 10km run instead of the planned 21km half marathon. Some miscommunication or misunderstanding in registration but I was all excited again when Lilian Lee said she has extra 21km men's bib from her friend whom FFK'ed the last minute.

We left KL and drove to Penang in a convoy of 2 cars after the Saturday trial session at ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ USJ1. OBC @ USJ1 was launched on 18 November 2010 with the same energy and hyper-active trainers and recruits from OBC-BU. Both OBC-USJ1 & BU is open for online registration at www.hooyah.com.my. All registration must be submitted online.

There were 24 of us from OBC @ BU & OBC @ USJ1 that ran the PENANG BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2010. There were Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Rose Emini Pahamin, Selly Selina, Ilyanna Aylin Ayob, Armin Baniaz Pahamin, Chun Chia Kai, Daing Daniel Fitri @Sarge Dann, Ody Nurfuadi Ruzalli,  Rienna Choo, Syed Mahadzir Syed Manshor, Ryan Wong, Lilian Lee, Nyna Mohsen, Farhanah Bamadhaj, lizza Abdul Rahim,  Suriana Saiful, Amy Ho, Joe Liew, Yvonne Chen Ling Sze, Azlan Ramli, Norliza Affandi, Baharian Bahadom and Freda Liu. LIzza Abdul Rahim did not plan to run but she could not resist the temptation when Natassya Lee gave Lizza her 10km bib. Natassya Lee.. somehow... FFK'ed too. My 10km bib was given to Azlan Ramli when I took Lilian Lee friend's 21km bib.

The 2 car convoy that left with me comprised of Rose Emini Pahamin, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Syed Mahadzir Syed Manshor and Aaraf Eid Pahamin in my car and Azlan Ramli, Lizza Abdul Rahim, Farhanah Bamadhaj, Suriana Saiful Yazan, Chun Chia Kai in Azlan Ramli's Alphard.

OBC-USJ: 1st TRIAL SESSION

.

The Chinese belief that luck in number is an important element to be observed especially when we are starting a new business or getting into a marriage etc..  With our little understanding of Feng Shui, we chose the date 18 November (today) which means 'easy to prosper' to start the first ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP session in USJ1. The best part of Feng Shui, we dont have to believe in it for it to work. Today is also the second day of the Muslim's Eidul Adha or the festival of sacrifices. Theoretically, it should be a good start.

We left our house in Sungai Penchala at 5:15am anticipating a15 minutes drive to the training site although Sarge Dann, Corporal Chun and Corporal Tom (the USJ1 instructors for today), arrived at the training field as early as 5am for the instructors morning briefing and circuit preparation.

Rose Emini Pahamin, Nawal Aini Zulkifli and I arrived at 5:30am and saw Adibah Mohamad, Shear Ling Toh, Chan Meng Yam and James Fong already at the training site. By 5:45am, there were 24 of us including the instructors and we were ready to chart history with the opening of our first session at Laman Sukan MPSJ USJ1.

Today's workout was meant to be 'friendly' given its a 'Trial Session'. The platoon was divided into 4 teams namely Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Echo. We started out in a rectangle circuit with one team at each corner. I was in Team Echo with Nor, Letch Sina, Charlene, Rose Emini Pahamin and a new recruit (cant remember the name). My team, Team Echo was positioned at the last corner, Corner 4. Corner 4 to Corner 1 was the shorter side of the rectangular.

STAFF APPRECIATION- PROTON EDAR @ PUTRAJAYA

It was a very rare occasion to have 3 General Managers from Proton Edar at our Proton Edar Showroom in Putrajaya. The 3 GM(s) led the police escorted 6 Inspira car convoy and accompanied by dozens of Proton Edar personnel which we of course, made full use of their visit to our showroom...

We took the opportunity of their visit to recognized and introduced the team@ Proton Edar Putrajaya.

We invited Yg Berusaha En Kamsani Ahmad, Proton Edar General Manager (Sales) to introduced him to the customers and our team @ Putrajaya before giving him the honour to award the certificates for our TOP SALES ACHIEVERS for the month of October 2010.

The top achievers were also given a hamper as our gratitude for their performance... (of course the money & commission was well rewarded too).

ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP BANDAR UTAMA IS EXPANDING TO SUBANG JAYA

It has been 6 months now since the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama was established in June 2010. The instructors whom were once part of Malaysia team Gold Medalist in some sport or an avid marathoners or a strong Delta had perfected their skill and performance as an instructor at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP MALAYSIA.

As the licensee for the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP, I would like to extend our heartiest gratitude for the passion, enthusiasm and commitment displayed by all instructors and team members.

In particular, to Daing Daniel Fitri or popularly known as Sarge Dann, the lead instructor cum platoon commander. Chun Chia Kai or officially known as Corporal Chun for the undivided support to OBC-BU & me. Corporal Chun too represented OBC-BU and Malaysia in running the 2,500th year marathon anniversary at the Marathon birth place in Athens in October 2010. Corporal Jasper whom quickly became the back bone of OBC-BU with his extra energy, and last but not least Nawal Aini Zulkifli or fondly known as Corporal Nawal whom raised the standard of female instructor to a different level. Corporal Nawal too represented OBC-BU to run the Melbourne Marathon and gained her Personal Best completing the 42.195km in 4 hours 36 minutes. From a reluctant Delta, she had excel well as an instructor beyond expectation. There is no better way to instruct a customer than the owner herself. Instructing recruits at OBC-BU is never a career but instead its a deep passion and enthusiasm. The reward was never the pay but the result, achievement and compliment from satisfied recruits.

OBC-BU: NOV 7/12- BURNING MUSCLE........

.

The 7th session for the month began with Corporal Chun leading the warming up session while Sarge Dann, Corporal Nawal & Corporal Jasper warmed out with recruits to correct their stretching forms and methods. After the warming up session, recruits were divided into three groups with the same mixture of Delta, Seal and Rangers. Group 1 went with Corporal Jasper at Station 1, Group 2 with Corporal Nawal at Station 2 and Group 3 with Corporal Chun at Station 3. I was in Group 3 with Deltas James Fong, Joe Liew, Ilyanna Aylin Ayob, Ryan Wong, Mohd Azhari as well as others.

Each station was located from one field-end to the other. Corporal Jasper was in charge of Lower Body workout at his station. Corporal Nawal, the section commander at Station 2 had the Mid-Section and Corporal Chun with the upper body at Station 3.

At every station, the Delta must performed 60 Reps, SEAL 50 Reps and Rangers 40 Reps for all the workout prepared. After completing the repetition, they must sprint to the next station irrespective of other teammates speed in their group.

We had to complete as many laps as possible of all 3 stations within 10 minutes.

At Group 3, we started with 60 deep pushups with Corporal Chun before sprinting to Corporal Jasper for 60 repetitions of Deep Squat Jump and ran to Corporal Nawal for 60 repetitions of Military situps. We climaxed too early on the first lap and the second lap of 60 reps deep push-up felt really heavy. Unwilling to give up, James Fong, Joe Liew and me paced our count together and rested for a second at every 10 repetitions to slowly but surely complete the full 60 repetitions. We supported each other to make sure we completed all the 60 reps in a perfect form and accurate count (no stalling- you hear that Lizza Abdul Rahim *evil grin).

KEDAI DAGING LAS VACAS

.

Being only on a protein diet for the past 6 weeks with the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP 8 week challenge,  we opted to dine out and gave us a good treat without cheating on the diet (you hear that Raja Affandi & Syed Mahadzir? *stick tongue out).

After scouting around for the best place to eat, we found the KEDAI DAGING LAS VACAS at Mt Kiara (very close to Coffee bean).

This restaurant is very similar to a meat butcher shop. As you enter and there are varieties of raw meat being displayed and all priced in 100 grams. They have varieties of beef from wagyu beef, tenderloin, sirloin etc.. they even have lamb and ribs.

TERRY FOX RUN

The ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP MALAYSIA @ Bandar Utama was one of the contributors for the Terry Fox Run that was held today at the Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. Last month on 20 October 2010, we had approached our fellow bootcampers at Bandar Utama to run and raised fund for cancer research under "Team Bootcamp Bandar Utama". Click HERE for details.

The run was only for 5km and there were many recruits that ran their first race including Aaraf Eid Pahamin & Kasih Iris Leona. We left our house at 8am after bidding farewell to Sista Dr Teratai Edithy Pahamin, Shazrul Asari and Shazrai whom left back for London after 2 weeks of holiday in Malaysia. The race was scheduled to start at 9am but Team BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama had all scheduled to meet at the field for a photos-shoot... obviously! we are a bunch of camwhores.

After illegally parking our car near the Istana Budaya, we walked to the starting position and arrived at the meeting-point to see dozens of others from OBC-BU that had already arrived.

ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP MALAYSIA OCTOBER HILARIOUS PARTY

.

It is customary for the bootcampers at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP MALAYSIA @ Bandar Utama to gather for a monthly celebration cum party with a creative theme. This monthly get-together was to create a platform for bootcampers to share their passion, enthusiasm and experiences during training as well as get-to-know the trainers and other comrades from other platoon... especially after 1 whole month of consistent, discipline and intensive training to keep and be healthy.

The theme for October graduation that was held yesterday 3 November 2010 was "NERD & GEEK", dont ask me how that theme came about but that was it..... and there was no better place to cater for the theme than the LIBRARY, ground floor e-Curve (formerly known as Cineleisure) Mutiara Damansara.

Everymonth, a lot of effort is spent to get the best place and the best theme for the bootcampers. Special thank you note to Event Chairman Rose Emini Pahamin for burning the extra 'calories' in organising the event.

8-WEEKS OBC CHALLENGE: PROFILE 1 JAMES FONG

We have been on a strict diet since 21 September 2010 when 38 of us from the OBC-BU and 360 others from OBC Australia participated in the 8 week ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP Challenge. Part of the requirement was to photo-shoot and take a 9-points pre-challenge measurement on 26 September 2010, mid-point Photo & measurement on 24 October 2010 and again at the end of 8th week on 21 November 2010.

After the final measurement and photo-shoot, all contestants pictures and measurement will be posted for voting that will be open to all members of hooyah network to vote for best improved. If you have not join the Hooyah network, please do so now by clicking HERE... we need all the votes and support.

From now to the end of the 8 Week Challenge, we'll be posting the contestant's profile (with their permission) as an introduction as well as get to know your comrade campaign.

The first contestant is none other than our Alpha-Delta James Fong. James Fong, a Chartered Accountant is also an OBC-BU pioneer member. When James Fong and his inseparable partner Yam Chan SiuCheh first joined the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP, they slept in the car during office hours after the first session, being too exhausted. From that could-not-barely-move on first day session, James Fong is now a strong Delta with a big improvement in both benchmark assessment 1 and 2. During the November assessment, James Fong completed the first circuit in 8:06 minutes and the 1-mile run in 8:02. That was a big improvement from his first benchmark timing of 15:30 (circuit 1) and 13:00 (1 mile run).

James Fong's weight was 93kg on 26 September 2010 (see picture on left taken on 26 Sept)) and 185cm in height. After joining the Challenge, James Fong had lost 9 kilogram in weight during the mid-term measurement and 10cm in waistline.

HAPPY 2,500th BIRTHDAY MARATHON

.

31 OCTOBER 2010 yesterday marked the 2,500th year of marathon or a long distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometers (or 26 miles and 385 yards). The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon (the namesake of the race) to Athens. For more details read Here.

Athen is a beautiful city and I can only imagine what it would feel like to run a race surrounded by stupendous view (pic from left was ciplak'ed from Chun's photo album).

To commemorate the historic date, the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama pioneer instructor Corporal (OBC) Chun or his real name Chun Chia Kai and OBC-BU Delta-recruit Vivien Luyen Ow went to Athen on 23 October 2010 to acclimatize and ran the historic 2,500 years old 42.195km marathon.

The Athen marathon was Vivien Luyen Ow's first maiden 42.195km marathon. She picked the best date to break her marathon virgin at the marathon's birth place itself on its 2,500th year anniversary.

KLANG NEW BALANCE 12KM RUN 4 IT 2010 RACE

31 October 2010. The Klang pacesetter club organised the New Balance 12km race that start at Padang Sultan Sulaiman , was flagged off at 6:50 for men category A, B & C and Women category D, E and F a few minutes later.

In a convoy of 2 cars, Daing Daniel Fitri, Rose Emini Pahamin, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Ilyanna Aylin Ayob, Nyna Mohsen and Ody Nurfuadi Razalli arrived just-in time for the flag off. The weather was runners-friendly but there were less participants this year compared to previous years. We have been a regular at the Klang New Balance Race.

KASIH LEIA IXORA HALLOWEEN PARTY

29 OCTOBER 2010. Kasih Leia Ixora, the eldest daughter of my eldest sister Chempaka Emalin Pahamin (& Azhar Sulaiman) is also the eldest third generation of Pahamin clan celebrated her 11th Birthday yesterday although her actual birth date is on 30 October 2010.

Kasih's birthday celebration was held at the Scream Park at Sunway Lagoon at 7pm last night and was attended by 30 of Kasih's school mates and cousins.

Kasih's brother Andika Rees Pahamin came as a Pirate and Kasih Iris Leona was dressed as a Devil. Aaraf Eid Pahamin came as Count Dracula.

The kids gathered before being escorted into the Haunted house... Some kids were very excited, some 'eksyen' cool.. and some were hiding behind the table.. scared!

The dark ambiance, the sounds and the hantu-dress made it scary even for adult. It was obvious when Melor Edina Pahamin too was speechless and sat quietly stationary behind a desk trying to look brave infront of the children.

The twins, Andika Rees Pahamin and Kasih Iris Leona (picture on right). Those that attended the party were Myra Alissa, Dayang Aina Rashiqa, Azri Raziq, Thea Irena, Nik Reanna, Nik Nazran Harith Danial, Amir Aniq, Aishah Soraya, Ru Xiang, Nusra, Hana Li, Myra Zahidah, Arief Johari, Hazim, Deena Iman, Amirah Askandar, Dianndre Erica, Ildina Murni, Dania Kamilia, Tengku Sara Afiqah, Tengku Adeira Hazirah

There were many Hantus and Hantis at the party... and they were really frightening.

OBC-BU: NOV 3/12: RAIN HAIL OR SHINE...

(pictures taken of OBC-BU Bravo platoon. The paparazzi was training at Alpha and no one to take pictures)

"Very very heavy rain now... is OBC still on?" read Joannita Zaleha Yusof Facebook status that appeared on my news feed. The message was typed just before 5am this morning. "Of course there is bootcamp training this morning", I quickly replied. The ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP training session was NEVER cancelled nor postpone or delayed even on public holiday. Health is so important that we need to religiously exercise whether in rain, hail or shine.

Sarge Dann, Corporal Jasper & Corporal Nawal left for the field at 4:45am to prepare the field for today's circuit. With an exception of a few new comers whom may have comfortably slept through the alarm clock in the cold morning, everybody else came.. some were in rain-coat.

We had the warming up session in the cold heavy downpour. The rain was so heavy that we were blinded and could not even open our eye though I noticed Rienna Choo warming up in rain coat.. Aiiiks... that is punishable with 10 grunts. After the warm-up, the platoon was divided into their respective section for a 3 muscle twitching circuits. The Ranger went to Corporal Nawal for a workout with Sandbag, Seal with Corporal Jasper for Mock Rifle Circuit and the Delta with Sarge Dann.

OBC-BU: NOV 2/12: WELCOME BACK RECRUITS & WELCOME TO OBC-BU NEWBIES

.

It almost felt like the good old days seeing Amy Ho at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama. Last month, Rienna Choo joined us at OBC-BU and the 8 Week Challenge. Amy Ho, Rienna Choo, Natassya Lee, Yushida Yusoff were their clan when we were training together once upon a time. Rose Emini Pahamin was all smiley to greet Amy Ho and so was Dr Malek Aziz, Farhanah Bamadhaj and Nawal Aini Zulkifli. We were also pleased to see Kenix Lim and almost all previous recruits from October back in November session that began on Monday 26 October. Leesa Tan is happily in India?

A LEGAL 'CHEAT'

.

38 of us from the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP MALAYSIA @ Bandar Utama participated in an 8 Week Challenge since 27 September 2010. The chronological of event since then was as follows:

1) 21 September 2010- the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP AUSTRALIA announced the 8 Week Challenge open to all ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP recruits in the HOOYAH network.

2) 26 September 2010- the deadline for photo-shoot & measurement.

3) 27 September 2010- Recruit's Day-1 challenge commenced (ignition phase) together with the first session for October. Recruits given access to the Gladiator Diet and Inferno metabolic accelerator program to be strictly followed together with the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP session.

4) 29 September 2010- Submission of Photos & measurement via the pre-prepared link on HOOYAH.net.

5) 10 October 2010- First Cheat meal.. as in we can eat anything we like and anything we want but it must be only for 1 meal. We all gathered for an orgy cheat-meal.. as in we ate everybody's meal in a pot luck dinner (Scroll down for pictures).

6) 11 October 2010- BURN-Phase part 1. Three full day on ignition diet meal and 1 meal on third day from Burn phase ingredients.

7) 17 October 2010- Sunday Treat. One dessert of our choice.. just one!

9) 25 October 2010- Burn phase part 2. Meaning, 1 full day of Ignition diet followed by 1 full day of burn-phase (any food from the Ignition & burn ingredients) and so forth until further notice....

So guys.. four more weeks to go... but wait.. what did we have on the first Cheat-Day? Trust recruits at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama with food...

ACE HALL OF FAME: ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP MALAYSIA @ BANDAR UTAMA

.

100% Attendance, 100% Commitment & 110% Effort or ACE CERTIFICATE is awarded as an acknowledgment to a consistent and discipline effort portrayed by recruits when they attended all the twelve sessions in a month.

At the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama,  we recognized the recruits effort in waking up in an ungodly hour, driving in the rain, training in the mud, spending extra hours scrubbing dirty shoes and cloth from a training session, being late at work and even re-scheduling their work/business travelling/appointment to avoid missing OBC session in the name of health and vanity.

Exercising should be a way of life and those through sheer commitment and effort, attended all the 12 session in hail, rain or shine deserved more than a certificate but the certificate and this HALL OF ACE are the least that we can offer.

The ACE HALL OF FAME is dedicated especially for these recruit.

Click HERE for the ACE HALL OF FAME.

There are twelve recruits that made it to October ACE Hall of Fame and the list will be updated after our graduation day.

Stay tune for October ACE Hall of Fame list and for the SPIRIT OF BOOTCAMP HALL OF FAME.

PEDA: CAR REPOSSESSION UP DUE TO CHANGES IN ACT

Friday October 22, 2010

Peda: Car repossession up due to changes in Act

By DALJIT DHESI
daljit@thestar.com.my

But the rate will be slower once amendments gazetted

PETALING JAYA: The move to approve the amendments to the Hire Purchase Act may have contributed to the recent surge in repossession of cars, according to Proton Edar Dealers Association Malaysia (Peda) President Armin Baniaz Pahamin.

He said although Peda was not privy to the statistics of repossessed vehicles, it believed the rate of car repossession had increased after the amendments to the Act was passed in the second quarter of this year.

“Once the amendments have been gazetted, the percentage of repossessed vehicles should deteriorate again as it will be more tedious for banks to repossess the affected cars. Our concern is in the bank’s approval rate. “Conventionally, the approval for new car loan will also become more difficult when the banks’ exposure and risk is higher. When a bank cannot secure their asset via repossession, they too will revised their credit risk scoring,” he told StarBiz.

BUNG MOKTAR WAS NAIVE, INSENSITIVE AND LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY: PEDA

PRESS RELEASE

Kuala Lumpur, “The dealers fraternity are disappointed with the remark made by BackBencher’s Club Deputy Chairman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin calling for Proton to be wound up for embarrassing the nation by producing a rebadged Mitsubishi Lanser as Proton Inspira”, said Armin Baniaz Pahamin, President PROTON EDAR DEALERS ASSOCIATION MALAYSIA.

The remark made by Bung Moktar was naïve and insensitive without a clear understanding on the automotive industry especially Proton. The introduction of Proton Inspira  is an addition into the current Proton stable of cars. The Proton Inspira created a new market for Proton to penetrate, a market that is currently being dominated by the Korean and other Japanese makes.
