Suppose there is one addiction of sorts that I craved for every day. In that case, it must be those natural supplements that I have never been exhausted of trying and experimenting for the past 22 years since I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). Since then, I have tried all sorts of traditional supplements such as akar kayu and Ginseng, have seen all sort of Bomoh from Mokhtar Lintang to Gusti, taken all forms of drugs from hydroxyurea to morphine, attended all traditional Chinese sinsei such as acupuncture and traditional urut (not urut batin ar!) and the likes of it; have tried various type of exercises from Chi Qong, Tai Chi to Pilates and Yoga for breathing technique, stretching and relaxation. I have also experimented with various dieting forms, including Dr Adamo's Blood Type Diet and fresh vegetable juices that comprised green apples, bitter gourds, carrots, grapefruits, cucumbers, ginger, and beets, which I am currently taking. Each experiment lasted at least a year. Most of the experiments that are less than three years old have been shared in this blog.
Inevitably, when we live life to the extreme, our internal and bodily needs require servicing and overhauling, especially given my history of growing up. My teenage livelihood was filled with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, bone marrow transplant and various treatments for CML. Lifestyle in the 20s consisted of endless sleepless nights, being either overworked with meetings and deadlines, or overexerted with friends travelling, clubbing, and discoing. In the thirties, life was fanatically full of strenuous activities, including mountain climbing, duathlons, triathlons, and marathons, and for the past three years... Bootcamp!!
