THE SOCIETY THAT CARES?

After being in and out of hospital in London for 2 years for the Bone Marrow transplant, I returned back to Malaysia with a re-branded mission but being away from school friends for 2 years, a few dozen old friends gathered to celebrate my returned, 3 days upon touch down. We went jamming at black widow at Asia Jaya (now known as Plaza Lien Ho?) and were suppose to meet some girls at section 14, at 'the late' Jaya Supermarket in a convoy of.. was it 5 cars and sped through the flyover before the car (which I was the front passenger), skidded and rammed into the divider that cut open exposing my forehead skull. That was the second time I cheated death after surviving leukemia but this is a story for another session. For now, the Youtube video that I wanted to share reminded of that moment when I was bleeding profusely from the car accident. Blood was pouring out from my head like a fountain. I could not stop the blood and was very scared of blood. I was freaking out when the blood refuse to stop and I could not open my eye as blood was flowing out from my forehead.

There were alot of commotion from a huge crowd from the nearby bus stop and there were many cars and motorcycle that passes by and everyone just stood and watch me bleeding. There were at least a stadium pack of people... okay that may be abit exaggerating but there were a big huge crowd. No one came to help except for a friend, Abul Khalil Jamaludin whom was in the other car that turned back when he lost sight of the car that I was in. Abul came, almost carried me with another friend Musa Zahidin and brought me to the hospital. If I was alone, I would have suffered the same fate as Yue Yuem whom was run over twice by a van and a lorry that broke both her legs and bones. There were 17 passersby whom did not even bother to extend any help or called for the police for assistance.

The incident took place barely a week ago on 13 October 2011 afternoon at the Guangfo Hardware Market in Huangqi of Foshan. Yue Yuem, a 2-year-old little girl was ran over by a van, then another car before a lorry ran over and broke both her leg. Over the span of 7 minutes, a total of 17 people passingby  but no one extend a hand or call the police, up until the 19th person, a garbage scavenger ayi [older woman], who lifted her up on sight but the little girl in her arms was like a noodle, immediately collapsing back onto the ground. The trash scavenger ayi called for help, and the little girl's mother, who was in the vicinity, immediately rushed over and rushed her to the hospital.

My heart cried to see such a heartless and cold society our world has become and had personally experience first hand of this society. To see the little girl struggling, crying and waving her hand in pain asking for help was too much to bear. Please do not see the video if you have a faint heart. Masya Allah. I cannot stop imagining if Yue Yuem was Aaraf or someone that I know. Subhanallah.

Let us make a different. We cant change the society but we do not need to be like them. Let us start with us. Be caring, take concern of the surrounding.
